Slave Voices and the Quest for Freedom in the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula

Simon C. Smith is Professor of International History in the School of Humanities at the University of Hull. Professor Smith is an expert on British imperialism and decolonization in the Middle East and the Mediterranean, as well as post-war Anglo-American relations. The title of his talk, which emerges out of the recent fellowship he was awarded at the Wilberforce Institute, is 'Slave Voices and the Quest for Freedom in the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula in the first half of the twentieth century'.
